it looks like the datasmith feature still doesn't allow Cinema 4D files to be imported
Hello,
Please check this forum topic for information about your question: https://my.aximmetry.com/post/1123-datasmith-c4d-importer-for-unreal-engine
Same here, doing most of the work in standard unreal then finishing in Aximmetry version, but if you forget or need to update something, it's back again making copies of different versions... it's doable but quite tedious to say the least, while the whole point of datasmith is to make it seamless.
How about making Aximmetry as Plugin for standard Unreal Engine?
I know Disguise server and its Render Stream(Unreal Engine) and it provides plugins for standard UE. It makes things easier.
Just an opinion.
@ericmarodon: There is no need to make copies of different versions! Just open the same project in both versions of UE4 without any converting.
@brucekim: Aximmetry has modified the engine source code to allow rendering of video billboards without TAA and for the GPU transfer. This wouldn’t be possible with just a plug-in.
Looks like this issue requires the help of Epic to be resolved, according to the answer in the linked thread above.
@Twentystudios : Thanks for the tip, I'll try that. I assume it will still scream at me that this isn't the same version, but will work anyhow? I was afraid I wouldn't be able to save/compile/cook projects if it wasn't exactly the same version or properly converted.
@ericmarodon: Yeah, just skip any conversions and open the project. Has worked fine for us so far, apart from some random forces shader recompiles, which might take some time depending on your project. Doesn’t happen all the time though.
Hi,
There is a way to make the Datasmith C4D Importer plugin work in Unreal Engine for Aximmetry, more on that here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-aximmetry-de-users/how-to-install-and-work-with-the-unreal-engine-based-de-edition/#introduction
Warmest regards,
We have same problem.
But for workaround we import the c4d file in standard unreal engine then open the project in aximmetry custom unreal editor
