I am unable to install DE Prof | Forum

I am unable to install DE Professional and Community 2020.7.0

I am having an issue once the installation gets to installing the common library 2020.07 and getting an error "exception has been thrown aximmetryEngine.Main.dll", at which point the installation stops and rolls back.

This is a brand new machine and a clean installation of Windows 10 x64.

In the case of madeupde, as we discussed in email, the problem was that he accidentally installed the Windows 10 Pro-N version which lacks support for certain media types.

I am having this same issue, how do you know what version of Windows you have installed ie..."Pro-N"? Does this require a reinstall of windows to get this working?

Hi,

If the common multimedia apps like windows media player is missing it means that you are running the N version of windows.

Unfortunately, you will have to do a clean install in order to switch from the N to non-N version. You can start the installation from with N but, you will only be given the option to keep files.

So, make sure you backup your files and prepare to reinstall apps and drivers.
