Aximmetry nodes system are awesome, but the connection lines and organization are so overwhelming.
Looking at this and try to understand what's happening, try to fix something or add a new feature it's just a pain.
I would like to request some attention to make this system more readable adding tools to organize and visualize better. Like:
- Straight Connection Lines: An option to toggle between curved and straight lines for cleaner visuals.
- Reroute Points: Adding "dots" along connection lines (like Unreal’s reroute nodes) to bend paths and reduce clutter.
- Comment Backdrops: Group nodes into labeled sections with colored backgrounds for better organization.
[Example from Unreal/plugins that illustrate these ideas!]
Additionally, many nodes lack clear explanations. While some names are intuitive, others leave me guessing—this might mean I’m missing out on better solutions for my projects. Could we get brief tooltips or a documentation panel (similar to Unreal’s) that explains what each node does?
Hi,
With most updates, we try to incorporate existing and new functionalities into new linked compounds within the camera compound, making the systems more compartmentalized. This reduces the number of visible modules and connections within each compound. You can find more information on linked compounds here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/scripting-in-aximmetry/flow-editor/compound/
Also, be aware that the mixed camera compound is highly complex because it combines two camera compounds (virtual and tracked). It might be more beneficial to start by editing either a tracked or a virtual camera compound first.
Regarding Reroute Points, this feature was recently requested here: https://my.aximmetry.com/post/4537-request---reroute-modules-the-end-of-the
I have added your Straight Connection Lines request to our internal suggestion list and grouped it with the Reroute Points request.
For Comment Backdrops, you can use notes, this feature of the notes was added recently. You can learn more about it here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/starting-with-aximmetry/aximmetry-composer/notes/#modules-within-notes
Concerning the lack of explanations, some modules do have descriptions visible when you turn on the Info panel: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/starting-with-aximmetry/aximmetry-composer/notes/?draft=1#info-panel-1
However, we recognize this needs improvement and we plan to add descriptions for more modules in the future.
Warmest regards,
