Composer 2024.3.0 crash with successfully cooked UE project

EDIT: FYI, I did also try the "blank Aximmetry"-project cooking approach and this is working just fine.

EDIT2: Oh, slowly I'm getting there Ja. I have had a Motion cloner in there for some ceiling lamps. I did delete the cloner and the file is running in Aximmtery. But everything is super bright right now!?

Composer 2024.3.0 crash with successfully cooked UE project

Hi @Eiffert ,

I  also had a problem cooking my project with Unreal Editor - Aximmetry 2024.3.0. But I got the cooking now working with your tips from another post. I had to re-install Visual Studio so something was wrong there. BUT....unfortunately I still get a crash in Aximmetry when I try to open it. I have used debug-cooking and have some massive debugging files. I've send the debugging files to "sales@aximmetry.com" with a link to this post. Unreal Editor - Aximmetry 2024.3.0 BETA : error in cooking

Thanks alot in advance for any help you can provide!

Best regards
Marc

I’m also seeing the “super bright” overexposed UE5 output in our projects. Doesn’t happen in the editor, only in Aximmetry.

Hi @TwentyStudios

thank you for your feedback! Ok, then this is related to the new version 2024.3.0!?
Hopefully @Eiffert can shed some light on this.

It’s definitely related to 2024.3.0. Several other users have reported the same issue. They said the image is “over saturated” but I’m pretty sure this is somehow related to exposure. It might be a 5.3 to 5.4 issue on the Unreal side (things break regularly with UE5 version updates, by no fault of Aximmetry) but since the issue only manifests when playing the scene in Aximmetry I think this warrants further investigation by Aximmetry, and urgently so. @Eiffert?

Hi,

About the Brightness:

There are some posts about this issue on the Unreal forum from users upgrading to Unreal 5.4. For example https://forums.unrealengine.com/t/map-in-packaged-build-is-completely-bright/1242275

This could be caused by the fact that the Medium scalability setting for Global Illumination is vastly darker than the other options.
So make sure it is set to Epic in the Unreal Editor:

Also, make sure you use the same Preview Platform as the Project Settings. This means you have to select the Disabled Preview option:

And finally, you could try building the lighting using the Production quality setting:

If these adjustments do not resolve the issue, it would be helpful if you could share the scene where the problem occurs or a simplified copy of it. This could assist us significantly in identifying the source of the issue.

About the crash:

Based on the analysis of the dump file, it appears to be caused by Motion Design's Cloners or Effectors.

You could fix it by deleting the Cloner Actor Layout which you did.
Alternatively, you could try using a different layout in the cloner.

Note that both of these plugins are labeled as Experimental. This likely indicates that they have not been thoroughly tested in a packaged Unreal Engine environment.

Warmest regards,

Thank you very much @Eifert!

I'm pretty sure your tips are going to solve my problem. Regarding the Motion Cloners/Effectors it's good to know that they aren't working right now and for now I can easily avoid them at this stage of the project.

Thanks again for your quick help!

I'll put an EDIT at the top of this post when things are working! Always good to know when things worked out and someone can easily see from the beginning of the forum entry that this is solved.

Have a great day,

best regards
Marc
