3D Clean Plate Generator doesn't see Studio model

We are trying to use 3D Clean Plate Generator. We did everything according to the tutorial: drew a 3D model of the studio, connected it to the Cleanplate Model pin, but when we go to keying, the studio mesh is not visible.

If a model is added to the scene, it is displayed. We tried dae and fbx formats.

Pressing "Move Model in front of Camera" button gives nothing.

The studio model can be found here:

update

Studio Model appears after turning that module on. What is Direction Dependent?

While trying to capture 3D Clean Plate I get very low resolution. What can be the reason?

Hi there.

Looking at the 3d Model, your normals might be flipped (i.e. facing outwards).

Also, the geometry seems to be doubled, sitting at the exact same position.
So you're probably facing a combination of z-fighting and flipped normals?

Cheers.

Eric.

EricWest, thanks for the advice. I already tried changing the normals, but it didn't help. Added an updated file with normals inside on Google Drive via the link. My model can be seen in Clean Plate 3D Generator only when "Direction Dependent Clean Plate 3D Generator" node is used. What is the difference between "Clean Plate 3D Generator" and "Direction Dependent Clean Plate 3D Generator"?

I didn’t find any double geometry. Can you tell me where you saw it?

The main problem for me now is the low resolution of texture capture. I added my blender model to the folder on Google Drive. Could there be something wrong with it?

When importing the original fbx into Blender I see (on an apparently flat polygon) normals pointing outside as well as inside:
(which of course is slightly impossible :-))

When I then move any of the polygons there is another set of geometry underneath:

This doen't seem to be the case with the second FBX.

The Blender file has the same issue with polygons sharing the same space...

Originally model was made in SketchUp and exported with two-sided faces. Maybe that caused doubling of polygons.

That might well be.
And it makes sense to a certain extent, since any polygon should only have *one* surface normal.
So SketchUp's 'two sided faces' seems to be a hack rather than a solution... :-)

I corrected the orientation of the normals and removed the duplicate geometry. But I still have a problem with the resolution of textures captured by the camera. I think the problem may be in the UV or it's scale, but can't find what causes so lowres capture.

Hi,

The bad resolution of textures is probably a result of the camera compound's edited Cleant Plate generator part. You should try to capture Clean Plate with a new tracked camera compound and see if you get a better result.
If it is still bad, we could look at your fixed model if you upload it again. Also, a camera footage recorded in the Tracked camera compound would help too in figuring out the source of the issue.

The "Move Model in front of Camera" button has some problems, it will be fixed in the next version of Aximmetry.

Warmest regards,
