[Feature Request] Plain UDP Client

Axy already has OSC implemented (which uses UDP protocol).
It would be just awesome if we could have a 'plain' UDP compound as well,
that would allow UDP communication with all the other things out there (like PTZ Cameras and the like)

Currently we're building our own Lua Script (after adding the socket library), which sort of works,
but (again) an UDP Compound would be soooo much easier... :-)

Cheers & all the best.

Eric.

Hi Eric,

We added it to our request list and we will consider adding it in future releases.

For a better understanding that what should such a module look like, in what way do you want to use this UDP module? For example, which PTZ cameras would you control with it?

Warmest regards,

Hi Eifert.

We're zeroing in on the Canon cr-n500, using Canon's own xc protocol.
It offers much better integration and feedback than generic Visca, althoguh we also need to implement messagepack via Lua for full functionality..

Cheers & all the best.

Eric.

Hi Eric,

We are pleased to inform you that Plain UDP Client support has been added in Aximmetry version 2023.3.1. For detailed information, please refer to our documentation: Using UDP and TCP in Aximmetry.

Please note that similar to the TCP Client, TCP Server, WebSocket, and Serial Client modules, using UDP Sender and UDP Receiver requires the Professional or Broadcast editions of Aximmetry.

Warmest regards,

Does this module have the ability to specify not only the destination port but also the port it will send commands from? I'd like to control the UMDs on a Lilliput Q18 from within Aximmetry. I've figured out the UDP commands it uses, but it will only accept them if they originate from a specific port.

Hi Stefan,

We replied under the other post: https://my.aximmetry.com/post/4129-sending-udp-data-from-a-specific-portq18
