Vive Mars and FreeD protocol setup

Hi,

I'm trying to set up the new HTC Vive Mars VP tracking system to use in Ax.  I have a shoot in two days and really would like to see it work together.  Mars just updated its firmware to include FreeD protocol, and Ax DE has an option for device mapping to a freed device.  I've turned on Freed on mars, and Ax keeps telling me it gets no input from the port mars says is for Freed.  I'm about to give up on it but was wondering if I could get any advice.

Thanks,

Lance

Don’t you have to set the IP as well? Also, check that your firewall isn’t blocking the FreeD data from the Mars. Maybe check if you receive any FreeD data in standard UE4 as well. Finally, you’re using Broadcast DE right? I think that’s the only version that supports FreeD.

I had the same problem this morning. I have factory reset mars and done 2 updates, so I was able to get it to work, but now I have some problems during the calibration procedure ...

Hi ELimpia,

The Free-d protocol before Mars firmware 2.02 had problems. So you probably fixed it by updating the Mars.

Are you experiencing problems with the Aximmetry Camera calibrator, if so, what kind of problems do you experience?

Warmest regards,

Hi Lance. Did you manage to get it working? I'm in a similar situation but I can't work out how to configure either Aximmetry and/or the Mars system to send/recieve FreeD Data.

How did you set it up?

Hi,

Just adding that Cookseyyyyy found the solution here: https://my.aximmetry.com/post/2127-vive-mars-freed-and-aximmetry

Just adding to this. As of this morning I can get no FreeD data form the Vive Mars to Aximmetry, the classic 'no camera' error in the log.

I've factory reset the mars, done multiple restarts but no dice yet. I'm in the process of re-installing Aximmetry to see if thre's an issue there.

Hi Mr Largefoot,

After you factory reset the Vive Mars make sure that the latest firmware is installed on it.

Can you copy and paste the full error log or a screenshot of it?
Also, which version of Vive Mars firmware do you use?

Warmest regards,
