Can the Aximmetry DE work on a MacBook system?
Hi Huseen,
You can only run Aximmetry on a Mac if you install a Windows on it. But you might still have problems with the GPU in this case. So we do not recommend doing this at all, and do not support it officially.
Another problem is that this type of laptops usually do not have the necessary power at all to run Aximmetry.
@Salifus: Did you read the reply from Aximmetry above? To put it simply, Mac hardware isn’t suitable for these kinds of applications. How would it make sense to develop software for a platform that doesn’t have the necessary hardware to run it? macOS are great for a lot of stuff, but if you want to do virtual production you need a PC.
@coolbull00: It’s interesting that you identify as a “professional”, and yet you would rather give your life than to use the tool most appropriate for the job? How is that working out for you?
Anyway, feel free to use UE4/UE5 on your Mac Studio Ultra for all your virtual production needs. Good luck!
@coolbull00: Just to be clear, I don’t work at or for Aximmetry.
Yes, you might be a professional, but a professional what?
Most professionals that I know have left pointless fanboyism behind them long ago. Whatever gets the job done is what they’ll use. Hopefully you’ll reach that point as well someday. Best of luck to you.
@Salifus: Apple ditched Nvidia hardware since many years. Please look it up before blaming Aximmetry not beeing as professional as you are. Myself I choose also MAC hardware and OS wherever I can. But Unreal Engines run only on Windows.
Our Aximmetry DE hardware setups are only running that sole application, nothing else is allowed to be installed. Aut-updates disabled and backup images made after a new version has been installed and tested (just as we handle Macs the same that we use only for playout / editing purposes). That way it are solid machines, no office PC's with a zillion of apps and drivers combined.
Count me as another out of this software. I'll see where I can get with Unreal Engine which I run quite successfully on a Mac Studio M1 and a MBP M3. Maybe I haven't hit the thing yet that won't let me proceed but I will work toward a Mac solution. Thanks for letting us know they are unlikely to try and support macs.
@ jpurrenhage: I can guarantee you that you won’t find a single person doing real-time green screen virtual production in any professional capacity on a Mac. Many have tried before you and all have given up. If you don’t trust me, do your own research on the subject. For the record, I would prefer to use mac for everything, but it’s just not possible.
No.
