Playing PNG secqences

Hi!

I am trying to play PNG sequences in Composer DE. It does play but starts to stutter after some seconds and I need to play that for two minutes.

We have recorded a host on a RED camera i a greenscreen set. We are doing the keying in Nuke and are exporting a sequence in PNG with alpha. But this doesn't play well.

Is this a limitation in Aximmetry or can it be my disc that are to slow. I have a fast SSD.

I suggest that you read the following aximmetry document about img sequence

Hi Anders,

Image sequence is not particularly suitable for realtime playback, except in special cases when you are able to cache it into memory.
This is especially true for PNGs which are slow to uncompress.

Please try one of the following codecs instead:  ProRes4444+, CineForm, QT Animation.
These are all capable of embedding alpha.

Thank you for our answer, we will try with the QT files instead.

My recommendation for an efficient codec that supports alpha is the NewTek SpeedEdit HQ2 codec (SH2). It’s installed automatically when you install NDI Tools and is supported as an export codec in Premiere Pro.

I tried the Cineform codec with alpha and the image is keyed rather well but the foreground is 10% transparent...

Hi Anders,

What software did you use to generate cineform?

And you absolutely sure that the problems is not with the keyer settings?  If you generate PNGs with the same settings are they OK?

If yes, can you send a piece (1-2 sec) of the cineform video to support@aximmetry.com   and the corresponding part as png sequence as well?  Thank you.
