Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G/HDMI Out

Hi

I'm working on Axymmetry DE Community, with Rtx 3090. NVIDIA and Blackmagic DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G/ with HDMI.No problem for Camera Input with the Blackmagic card ( PANASONIC  S1 H Camera on HDMI Blackmagic Input) but i can't send the final composition output signal to the blackmagic trough HDMI. The Blackmagic OUT  is connected  to an Atomos Ninja V which always shows a black video. The same thing with other monitors both HD and 4K. The Blackmagic card alone and in other software works perfectly. Do You think It's a problem of the Community Edition? or a Bug ? Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Is there any setting in Blackmagic Desktop Video app that allows selecting whether the SDI or the HDMI is used for output on the card?

Hi,

thanks for Your reply, I think both hdmi and sdi outputs are always active. I can choose the input, but I don't see an option to disable sdi on output. In the meantime I also tried with an Intensity 4K card which only has Hdmi and works perfectly.

Hi,

the problem is that Decklink 4K Extreme 12G/HDMI is a capture card with 4 SDI slots, and the Community edition can only handle HDMI, therefore that is the reason for Aximmetry not seeing the capture card.
To use the 4K extreme 12G card, you would need a Professional edition, or just use the Intensity card.

Please contact us at support@aximmetry.com and we would give you a trial license if you want to test the SDI features with the professional or broadcast editions.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue. I have the same DeckLink card and when running vMix I actually use the HDMI input and HDMI output instead of the SDI on that card. It works perfect. I have to use the BlackMagic Video Setup to configure the input and chose SDI or HDMI, but you can't configure the output port. I have always used the HDMI output without any config and has always worked perfect.

I'm just evaluating Aximmetry and I can easily capture the 4K signal from my Sony FS-5 into Aximmetry by the HDMI port on my DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G. But I can't figure out why I can't get any feed on the HDMI output. DeckLink appears under "Channel Matrix" in "Preferences" (in Aximmetry) and i have assigned that to "Source Channel"=3. But as said, I don't get any signal when feeding out on that channel.

I'm also confused as it says here https://aximmetry.com/en/documentation/Manuals/Recommended%20Hardware.pdf that there is "NO OUTPUT" under HDMI section.

So bottom line: Can you get video out on a DeckLink card on a HDMI-port or do you need the Broadcast or Professional version to get the output on a SDI-port?

Thx!

/Peter

Update: As I had a BlackMagic Intensity 4K card available as well, I swapped cards and the HDMI output worked right away :)

That said, you can have an output on a HDMI-port on a DeckLink card. Still don't understand why it didn't work on the 4K Extreme 12G.

Hi Marsentertainment and Peter,

The logic follows as:  since the BM card itself does not differentiate between using the SDI or the HDMI output (they work simultaneously as one unified output),  Aximmetry will always detect the port as an SDI capable one. Since Community Edition does not allow SDI, it will decline it.

I'm afraid in this case you need the Professional Edition.

I spent a week trying to figure out why the BM Decklink 8K Pro doesn't work... I thought it was due to BM hardware malfunction.  Now I know it's simply a limitation of the Community DE version not supporting SDI i/o.  Please include this limitation in the documentation (and or tutorials) so users don't go down this path of taking apart their entire computer system and uninstalling software to find out it's the Aximmetry license version limiting SDI usage.

@Zoltan - Does Aximmetry offer a Trial for the Broadcast/Professional version of  Aximmetry DE?  I need to create a proof of concept to be able to get funding to purchase it.  SDI is crucial to the studio's workflow.  Thank you!

Dear Yahman,

https://aximmetry.com/en/products

It is clearly stated on our website that SDI extension is only supported by the Broadcast and Professional edition only.

For sure, send us an email to support@aximmetry.com and we will gladly give you a trial license!

Hi Ahmed,

Thank you for sharing the comparison chart... I did not see that before posting.

I have also contacted support for a trial of the Broadcast license.  I appreciate the response!
