I found A big performance difference between setting aximmetry on 25p and 50i.
for a live broadcast TV show is it possible to use 25p?

That's is correct. When you are on 50i the system has to run at 50 fps to provide the smooth experience.
In contrast, on 25p the rendering runs at 25 fps. In that case you will find the motions of the virtual background less fluent. Using slow camera motions / animations it is less obvious however. It is up to you if it's acceptable for your broadcast or not.
