Hi,
we plan to set up a small studio for two days with three cameras and one output.
As I can see for Blackmagic there are 3 different ways to accomplish this:
- Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro
- Blackmagic DeckLink Duo2
- Blackmagic DeckLink Extreme 4K (plus DeckLink 4K Extreme 12G - Quad SDI daughterboard)
I´d like to use the Extreme 4K solution, as I can use HDMI and Fiberchannel for other projects and the Quad-SDI board for this event. Nevertheless, I am not sure, if this board, together with the Quad-SDI extension works as expected in Aximmetry.
The second decision we have to make, is the Aximmetry-Version. We wanna use Aximmetry DE. Two to three cameras will be tracked (HTC Vive), But there is only one final output. So there is no need for rendering all three backgrounds at once.
We would like to run Aximmetry on a AMD Threadripper (2990WX, 32 Cores, 64 Threads, running at 3,5GHz), 128GB RAM and RTX 2080ti. Do you think this system is sufficient for a task like this? I know, it depends on the rendered 3D-scene, but the scene shouldn´t be to big. It´s basically a studio-setup, 2 persons on greenscreen, a big virtual videowall in the background and some lights.
Do you have any suggestions for me?
Greetings,
René
Dear René,
First, concerning the choice of the capture card, Since we only use their pure input/output functionality without any processing, in that regard they're equally good. We ourselves are neither hardware resellers, nor broadcasters, so, unfortunately, we cannot give you real info on the performance of each of the mentioned cards but we can guarantee you complete support of the cards by Aximmetry Software. So your choice should be based purely on your operation needs.
Second, in the case of the HTC Vive tracking system, any Aximmetry license can do the job for you. However, since you are going to use SDI, you need a Professional license. If you plan to use more sophisticated tracking systems such as Stype, you should consider getting the Broadcast version because they are only supported by this license.
Third, your machine should handle it perfectly well. We would recommend a GPU upgrade in the future for an RTX 3080 or 3090, but even the 2080Ti is powerful enough in most scenarios.
