Scene scale mismatch between Composer and Basic Calibrator in one environment

Hello Aximmetry Support Team,

We have encountered an apparent overall scene scale mismatch between Composer and Basic Calibrator in one of our studio environments.

The issue affects both the floor grid and the Marker Height setting.

We have not observed the same issue in another Aximmetry environment, where the scale appears correct.

System Environment
  • Aximmetry: 2026.3.1 (Build 39093)

  • Edition: Broadcast & Film Edition, using Aximmetry's native rendering engine (no Unreal Engine)

  • OS: Windows 11 Home 25H2

  • CPU / GPU / RAM: Intel Core Ultra 7 265K / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 / 32 GB

  • Video I/O: DeckLink 8K Pro (Desktop Video 16.2)

  • Video format: 1920×1080 / 1080i59.94 (59.94 fields/s)

  • Camera: Sony HDC-2000

  • Lens: Fujinon HA27x6.5

  • Tracking: Shotoku SPI-Touch / SPI-BOX, Free-D at 59.94 Hz

  • Genlock: Black Burst (BB)

We are using the same saved Calibration Profile, including the lens and tracking calibration data, in both Composer and Basic Calibrator.

Observed Behavior

1. Scale in Composer

We used a physical object measuring 0.60 m from the floor to its top.

In Composer, we placed a virtual object with a height of 0.60 m at the same position as the real object and compared them.

The real and virtual objects matched correctly in position and scale.

The floor grid in Composer also appeared at the expected scale, with squares measuring 0.50 m × 0.50 m.

2. Scale in Basic Calibrator

However, when using the same saved Calibration Profile in Basic Calibrator, the apparent scale was different.

The floor grid squares appeared noticeably smaller than the expected 0.50 m × 0.50 m size.

We also found that setting the Marker Height parameter to the actual physical height of 0.60 m did not produce the expected alignment.

To align the virtual marker with the physical reference, we had to set Marker Height to approximately 1.80 m.

The observed values are:

Parameter | Value / Observation

Physical object height (floor to top) | 0.60 m

Virtual object height in Composer | 0.60 m (correct match)

Floor grid in Composer | 0.50 m × 0.50 m squares

Floor grid in Basic Calibrator | Squares appear smaller than expected

Marker Height required in Basic Calibrator | Approximately 1.80 m

These observations suggest that the discrepancy is not limited to the Marker Height parameter, but may affect the apparent scale of the virtual scene in Basic Calibrator.

3. Comparison with Another Environment

We also tested Aximmetry in another environment using the same PC.

However, the other hardware and equipment in that environment were different.

The scale appeared correct in that environment, and we did not observe the same mismatch.

Therefore, the issue has only been observed in the particular equipment configuration described above.

We have not yet identified which setting or condition causes the difference.

Questions
  1. What could cause the apparent overall scene scale in Basic Calibrator to differ from Composer, including both the floor grid size and the Marker Height required for alignment?

  2. Which settings or parameters should we compare between Composer and Basic Calibrator, or between the affected and unaffected equipment configurations, to identify the cause?

We would appreciate your advice on identifying and resolving this scale discrepancy.

Best regards.
