Single un-genlocked camera — AJA SDI input drops over time ("Cannot keep latency" / "No input"), but the signal is proven good

Hi everyone,

I have a Virtual Production setup with a single camera where the AJA SDI input works perfectly at startup but drifts and drops out over time in Aximmetry, while the exact same SDI signal is rock-solid in AJA Control Room. I'd like help finding the correct input configuration.

Setup

  • Aximmetry 2025.2.0 Broadcast DE (Unreal build 2025.2.0 / UE 5.5)
  • PC: Threadripper 3975WX, 96 GB RAM, RTX A6000
  • Capture card: AJA Corvid44 12G (8K)
  • Camera: 1 × Sony, 1080p50 (HD, 3G-SDI) into SDI 1 → AJA "Channel 1"
  • Composition: TrackedCam_Unreal (3-cam template) + a cooked Unreal decor
  • Output: AJA "Channel 3", 1080p50
  • Engine forced to 1080p50 (VideoParams FrameRate=50, UsePerArrangement=False)
  • VSyncOutput = "AJA: Corvid44-8K - 0 / Channel 3"
  • AJA card Genlock source = "SDI In 1", Ref In = "Unknown" — no external genlock / sync generator on site
  • VideoParams: InToOutLatency=7, CantKeepLatenBehav=3, NoInputBehav=0

Problem At startup everything is fine: the input opens ("Setting mode 1080p50", "Main input selected"), the camera is visible, 50 fps. But after a while (minutes to a few hours) the input starts flapping in a loop and drops:

[Arr] Main input selected: Video: AJA: Corvid44-8K - 0 / Channel 1 [Arr] Main input deselected [Arr] **** Video: AJA: Corvid44-8K - 0 / Channel 1: No input [Arr] **** Video: AJA: Corvid44-8K - 0 / Channel 1: Cannot keep latency

The preview goes to "NO INPUT". Left running overnight, it is fully dropped by morning. A reboot is required to recover (Aximmetry seems to leave the card in a state where even other apps see black until a reboot).

Key point — the signal itself is definitely good If I close Aximmetry and open AJA Control Room on the same SDI input, the camera is captured perfectly and stays stable for more than 24 hours with zero dropouts. So the cable, the camera, and the card are proven fine — the drop is specific to Aximmetry's real-time capture pipeline.

Questions We have a single camera and no external genlock/sync generator (and since it's only one camera, we assumed genlock wasn't mandatory).

  1. What is the correct way to configure a single un-genlocked SDI input so Aximmetry doesn't drift and hit "Cannot keep latency" over time?
  2. Is there an input frame-synchronizer / buffering option to absorb the small clock difference between the free-running camera and the engine?
  3. What values do you recommend for InToOutLatency / CantKeepLatenBehav / NoInputBehav in this no-genlock case?
  4. Should VSyncOutput reference the input capture instead of the output channel — or is there a dedicated "genlock to input" / reference setting we should use?

Thanks a lot for any guidance!
