We've just reconfigured our engine setup to help with scene performance, as we were having stability issues due to our scene being pretty heavy/lot of elements.
This has included installing a control machine to act as local (which has rendering disabled), and then leaving all the rendering for the 3x remote machines.
(For context, we have not tied the virtual cams to a specific engine, we are running the 8 virtual cam compound with a switcher built to enable any engine to display any camera)
Setup as follows:
Control Machine (No rendering)
Remote 1 (Rendering) *formally local
Remote 2 (Rendering)
Remote 3 (Rendering)
Performance across all remote machines is now drastically improved; however, I have found that the copy/paste functions of the 'Camera Path Edit' node are now not working, which will make pre-show setup a nightmare. I can still select and view the A, B, C points of the camera paths and change their positions using the 'Mouse Pad' on the control machine, however, copying and pasting A to C, for example, now doesn't work, and when these buttons are pressed, I am getting this error:

I'm assuming this is because the copy/paste function is expecting there to be a local machine which you would have normally edited via? Is there an extra bit of logic that would need to be set up to fix this?

We tested the setup on our side as follows.
Using a multi-machine setup — one control-only local machine and one remote renderer machine — we inserted a VirtualCam_8-Cam_A_B_C.xcomp camera compound into our project compound on the control machine. We selected CAM 1 on the SELECT CAMERA control panel, assigned the remote machine to the CAM 1 Engine pin, and then tried the EDIT CAMERA PATH control panel's Copy function. Clicking the Copy button gave us no message.
Your setup may differ from ours, however. You mention:

We're unclear on what you mean here exactly, because a multi-machine setup works by assigning input lines (cameras) to specific machines.
Please tell us more about how your setup is arranged:
What kind of switcher did you mean when you said ‘a switcher built to enable any engine to display any camera’ — a physical switcher, a module, or a compound?
What do you use it for — only switching between the virtual cameras, or between the camera engines as well?
If you do switch between the camera engines, how did you set that up?
Please also elaborate on why did you implement your setup the way you did and what did you wish to achieve?
