Issues with receiving Visca data in 2026.2

@Eiffert

I am having difficulty  getting tracking working in a project with a PTZ camera in 2026.2. Tracking works with the same project for Visca and Free D in 2024.3.  The tracking  also works when using  Freed D  in 2026.2. It appears that the Visca tracking data is not being received. Any idea why

Visca is a protocol for controlling PTZ cameras, not transmitting tracking data. Some cheap PTZ cameras claim that they are sending positional data back using the Visca protocol, but I haven’t seen a single example of that working with anything close to professional results.

Hi,

Visca is an obsolete tracking protocol, which is not up to the contemporary standards of modern tracking protocols. It supports sending and receiving tracking data in both directions, but nowadays it is mostly used only for controlling cameras.
If your camera is capable of using FreeD, we highly suggest using that instead.

In the case of visca tracking make sure to add the correct IP, Port and use the corresponding Profile to what your camera uses.
