Reflections and Shadows using an Aximmetry + Unreal tracked-camera setup

Hi everyone,

I’m currently using an Aximmetry + Unreal tracked-camera setup, but I haven’t been able to get shadows or reflections from the talent onto the virtual set. As a result, the presenter appears to be “floating” in the scene, which makes the overall composite look less realistic.

I’ve attached a video of the show for reference.

I’m trying to understand:

  • Is it possible to use Shadow Catchers and Reflection Catchers with a tracked-camera workflow in Aximmetry + Unreal?
  • If so, what is the recommended setup?
  • Are there any limitations or known issues when the presenter moves around the set?
  • Do I need additional tracking, proxy geometry, or a specific Aximmetry compound to make this work?

Any advice, workflow examples, or pointers to documentation would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to improve the realism of the next show, which is scheduled for Sunday, June 7.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello Megamorty,

There is no need for Shadow or Reflection Catcher when working with a green screen.

Please find our documentation regarding billboard shadows here:

and general UE setup(including reflections and limitations) here:

Best Regards,
