Versions

I'm using the Studio (Legacy) version (1/1), with an SDi subscription. Now I see a message that this version will be discontinued soon and I need to switch to Broadcast. I still have six months left on my subscription, and I'm not planning on switching to Broadcast. I also saw the Studio Limited version. Can I switch to it after my subscription ends? Does it replace the DE version? Will it be possible to just buy a Studio Limited subscription like before? SDI and remove the watermark? I don't need the rest.

Hi,

Based on what you described, the most suitable option would likely be a paid Studio license with the monthly rental, plus the AX Scene Editor component added to that license.

To answer your questions directly:

Yes, after your current subscription ends in six months, you can switch. Until then, you can continue using Studio (Legacy).

Regarding DE, that has been essentially replaced by the AX Scene Editor and AX Scene Render Node components. More information about these components is available here:
https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/which-aximmetry-is-right-for-you/aximmetry-render-components/

Regarding Studio Limited: it is a free, watermark-free edition, but it would not be enough for your use case. It does not support Unreal scenes, and it supports only 1 NDI channel. If you need SDI or want to use Unreal (AX Scene Editor or AX Scene Render Node), you will need the paid Studio rental license instead. The paid Studio edition supports Unreal integration and allows up to 4 SDI and 4 NDI channels.

In short, if you only want SDI and no watermark, Studio Limited will not meet that requirement, because SDI support is available in Studio, not Studio Limited.

Got it! So there won't be a choice of versions if you only need SD card and no watermark? Do I still have to buy the Studio Limited version? I don't use Unreal and don't need NDI either. You could have chosen what you need so you don't overpay for it.

Hi,

Ohh, I thought you needed Unreal because you referred to DE, which used to mean Dual Engine. So, you don't need to buy the AX Scene Editor or AX Scene Render Node.
However, since you need SDI, you still have to rent the Studio version. There is no longer an option to purchase just the SDI port. On the other hand, you do not need to buy the no-watermark option as well.
In the shop, you can see clearly what you get for the rental Studio:

Yes, I looked. In this subsection, if I need NDI and Basic Tracking, without Unreal, do I still have to rent it?

Hi,

In that case, the free Studio Limited edition would be sufficient, since it includes one NDI channel (input or output) and Basic Tracking.

I think it would be more convenient for our clients to have a version without NDI, as we don't use it. A version without the watermark and only SDI would be nice. NDI and Basic Tracking are unnecessary. For example, I would be wasting money on NDI and Basic Tracking, which I don't use.

Hi,

NDI and Basic Tracking are available for free; you don't need to pay for them. They are both included in the free Studio Limited edition.
Likewise, Aximmetry’s render engine, chroma keying, RTMP, four SRT I/O ports, GPIO, OSC, MIDI, DMX/ArtNet, and C-Tracking protocol support are also included for free.

Warmest regards,
