Unable to find Unreal Engine for Aximmetry download link - Studio Limited License

Hi everyone,

I am a broadcast technician and I recently started using Aximmetry. I currently have a Studio Limited license registered on my account, but I cannot find the download link for the AX Scene Editor (Unreal Engine for Aximmetry) in my "My Software" dashboard.

I am planning to integrate Unreal Engine 5 for a virtual set project. Does the Studio Limited version support the Dual Engine (DE) workflow, or do I need to switch to the Community DE or a Broadcast Trial to access the modified Unreal Editor?

I would appreciate any guidance on how to get the correct installer for the Unreal Engine integration.

Best regards, Stevenson

Hi Stevenson,

Community DE is no longer obtainable, as it was discontinued some time ago. Unreal support, formerly known as Dual Engine (DE), is now provided through a separate product/add-on called AX Scene Editor. More information is available here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/which-aximmetry-is-right-for-you/aximmetry-render-components

Aximmetry currently has two main paid editions:

  • Broadcast & Film
For Broadcast & Film, AX Scene Editor is available either as a lifetime upgrade or as a monthly subscription.
  • Studio
For Studio, AX Scene Editor can be added as a monthly subscription upgrade together with the Studio rental license.

Also, note that the AX Scene Render Node is already included with both Broadcast & Film and Studio monthly subscriptions. However, AX Scene Render Node does not include AX Scene Editor, so it cannot be used to edit scenes.

You can find more details here: https://aximmetry.com/products

This means there is no free version of Unreal.

Hello,

I have applied for a one-month trial of the broadcast & film version of the software, but the installation package doesn't seem to include the AX Scene Editor(UE for Aximmertry). And it appears that the editor service cannot be purchased without subscribing to the software itself. Does this mean that trial users cannot access the full range of features? I’m a bit confused, as I can’t do anything at the moment.

Hi,

Yes, AX Scene Editor cannot be purchased for the trial version of Aximmetry. To have access to AX Scene Editor, you must either own the Broadcast & Film Edition or have an active subscription to the Studio or Broadcast & Film Edition of Aximmetry. You can find more information about the different Aximmetry editions and upgrade options in our webshop: https://aximmetry.com/products

Aside from Scene Editor, the trial version includes access to the full range of Aximmetry features.

If you are a student and would like to try AX Scene Editor, we may be able to provide a student license to supplement your Aximmetry trial license. In this case, please contact our Sales Department for further details: sales@aximmetry.com

Warmest regards,
Adam

@Adam: This is a truly dire state of affairs. Without any way to trial the software, how should new users test Aximmetry? Unreal itself is still free for non-commercial use, so why would anyone buy an expensive license for the Unreal Editor for non-commercial use? I still haven’t got a good answer to why you can’t just let the user be responsible for licensing Unreal? Your engine customizations could come in the form of a patch that the user applies to the vanilla engine, or better yet a plugin if you still feel that you need to monetize this part of Aximmetry.

Hello @JohanF,

We hear your frustration regarding the lack of a trial option and the questions around Unreal Engine licensing. These are valid points, and we want you to know they are being taken seriously. That said, the current situation is not simply a product decision. There are real legal and technical constraints around how we can distribute our customized version of the engine, and we cannot responsibly shift licensing obligations onto end users without a proper framework in place. A plugin approach, while appealing on the surface, involves complexities that go beyond what we can detail publicly at this stage. At the moment, we are evaluating all legal and technical solutions and will do our best to offer a cost-effective solution. We cannot commit to a specific timeline right now, but this is actively being worked on. We appreciate your patience and continued engagement with the Aximmetry platform.

Warmest regards,
