PC with 5080 + Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2

Hi There,

Trying to build a new computer that will be able to contain both cards:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX5080
and the
Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2
Does anyone here by chance the same  scenario?

There are not enough slots for example on the Z890 motherboard as an example
Any suggestions? ideas?

Thank you

You should be good there. I believe that motherboard has two PCI express lots. Just make sure you have enough PCI express lanes. More than likely they will run at X8 when you plug in both cards. Just verify how many PC express lanes each car needs.

Hi,

I believe the Z890 has 24 PCIe lanes, so the GPU (such as the RTX 5080) should be able to use 16 (CPU) lanes, while the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 could use the remaining 8 chipset lanes (through DMI 4.0).
However, you might have a hard time accessing the 2nd PCIe slot, especially if the RTX 5080 occupies the space of three cards, and Z890 has only 3 PCIe slots. Meaning the large size of the RTX 5080 may physically block all PCIe slots that the Blackmagic Design DeckLink 8K Pro G2 could use, and you need to buy a PCIe riser cable.

Warmest regards,

Thank you Eifert & Philly for the detailed reply,

@Eifert,  you were absolutely right - about the full capacity of the blackmagic decklink 8K and the Nvidia 5080 on the same motherboard.
The pci lanes not going to be enough for both of them - it will be on the edge of using the blackmagic decklink 8k to its full capacity.

Got another option to use a PCI enclosure box to use with the blackmagic decklink 8K separately through thunderbolt - need to check if that it doable.

Best,
Tom
