.Issues with Demo Studio sets

@Eiffert: I am trying to use one of your Demo Studio News Room sets, in a tracked Cam project . I am using .News Room - TrackedCam_3-Cam

I have an issue getting the  billboards to work correctly. The scale is  completely off with  reference to  the virtual set.  When I frame my talent with a full body shot, he appears miniscule on the billboard. As you can see in the attached image of a chair that's fully zoomed in, it is  disproportional to the rest of the set.  Adjusting the Scene scale  does not fix it.

The other issue is the tracking.  When I first tried the project, it wasn't sending my tracking data  to control the set. In an attempt to fix it, I connected the Cam Transform pin from  the TrackedCam_3 compound to the Cam Transform  of the Render, and this allows me to  send horizontal pan  movement data to control the  set.  I did he same with the Zoom, but that  does not work . I can peek the cam Transform  but there is nothing on the Zoom  factor.

Can you also let me know ho I can get rid of that  shadow  from The small Table. It is there on all lighting conditions except daylight.

Please advise

If you’re using the Virtual Cam compound, why would you expect tracking data to work? There’s another compound made for tracked cameras. With virtual cameras there’s naturally no real world scale reference since Aximmetry doesn’t have any lens or positioning data from your physical camera. You just have to set the scale of the billboard by eye.

The shadow from the table is there because the scene uses baked lighting. This means the shadows are baked into the scene and will remain even after you remove an object. Without access to the source scene you can’t re-bake the lighting.

@TwentyStudios: Sorry, the  project is Tracked Cam, News Room - TrackedCam_3-Cam, not a Virtual Cam one. Same issues persist. No zoom control, panning is OK  though, billboards difficult to adjust.

Thanks for the  input on baked lighting.

When you’re using tracked cameras, the scale is determined by the scale of the 3D scene. If your camera is calibrated and the scene is done to correct world scale, it should just work. If you’re not getting zoom data, that would naturally prevent the real and virtual camera to align whatsoever. Not sure how you’re using billboards in this context? With a tracked camera they are only used for placing the talent at the correct plane in 3D space.

@Eiffert:  Some  help  with this please .I can peek the cam Transform  to see the horizontal pan data but  there is no zoom data, consequently I can only pan the virtual set. There is nothing on the Zoom  factor when I zoom.  Can you please review my  flow  and advise. Also how do I change the scale of  the set.

@Linford: What are you using to get zoom data? Have you verified that you’re actually getting zoom data from the device? Also, don’t use billboards with tracked cameras, at least until you’ve verified that everything is aligning and is properly calibrated. Before you have zoom working there is no way to get proper scale, so you have to work at solving the issues in the correct order.

@Eiffert: Still having issues running this Demo News set in 2024.3.0. I can pan the set  left  and  right  however I cant Zoom on the set. On the  Cam Transform I can peek  both  pan  and zoom data though. Zoom Factor also changes when I  peek on Zoom Factor. Not sure where to look next

Hi Linford,

First, you should make sure you are no longer overriding Zoom data like this:
.Issues with Demo Studio sets

Then if you don't have Zoom tracking (lens encoder), you can change the Zoom and Focus manually by turning Manual Lens and using the Manual Zoom and Manual Focus parameters:

@Eiffert: No,  I have not been overriding zoom data. I  am using a PTZ  , my zoom.and pan data is coming from that camera. I can see both pan and Zoom data if I peek the  Cam Transform  pin, however  adjusting  the zoom on the camera has no effect on the set. I can also see zoom data on the Zoom Factor pin.  Panning the camera does adjust the set though.

Hi Linford,

Does turning on Manual Lens and using Manual Zoom to change the zoom function as expected?
If it works, have you performed camera calibration with your PTZ camera? If not, the zoom data you receive might be uncalibrated, which could result in it being in a very different range than expected. For more information on camera calibration, please visit: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/tracking/camera-calibrator/

If it doesn't work, and you are unable to change the zoom using Manual Zoom, it's possible that an alteration in the News Room - TrackedCam_3-Cam compound has affected the zoom functionality. You could try starting over with an unmodified News Room - TrackedCam_3-Cam compound or check what zoom values the Camera module receives in the RENDER compound.

Warmest regards,
