Hi everyone,
I’m trying to set up something super simple in Aximmetry, but I’m overthinking it and could use some help.
All I want to do is create an old-school green screen setup with a static 2D JPEG image as the background and have my keyed talent in front (like a billboard). Ideally, I’d also like the option to easily switch out the JPEG background if needed, maybe even between a couple of angles.
I feel like this should be straightforward, but I’m not sure the best way to set it up or if there’s a pre-made template for this kind of thing. Any tips or pointers for keeping it simple?
Thanks so much for your time and advice!
It is indeed super simple! You could just use the new video switcher template compound that’s included with the latest version of Aximmetry. It basically turns Aximmetry into a full video switching software, including a keyer on each input.
You could also build something custom yourself with a few Switch Video modules to switch between backgrounds, the Keyer_All compound for the camera inputs and use Blender modules for compositing. You can also use the LightWrap compound instead of the Blender module to get a more realistic blend between foreground and background. You could also add in the Adjuster Multi compounds for color adjustments (after the keyer), Color mapper modules for LUT processing, Placers for scaling and framing both background and foreground and Soft Croppers for removing anything that shouldn’t be included in the keyed foreground. Then you could map the essential controls to a more user friendly Control Board for use during actual productions.
The true power of Aximmetry lies in the ability to build and customize your own setups that match your specific needs. Starting from the included compounds and modules, it’s easy and fun to build something unique and it’s very rare to run into any limitations on what you can accomplish.
