Hello,
I am working on a remote virtual production project using Aximmetry Gateway with multiple Panasonic UE 100 cameras. The cameras use the SRT protocol for video and Free-D for tracking data.
I have two technical questions:
1. Camera synchronization: In a multicam setup, is it necessary to synchronize the cameras to ensure consistency between video streams and tracking data? If yes, what method do you recommend?
2. SRT input support: Is it possible to send the SRT video streams directly to Aximmetry Gateway, or must we first convert the streams to NDI?
Thank you in advance for your support. I look forward to your reply.
Hi,
1.
One of the main purposes of the Gateway is that the Tracking data and Video will arrive in sync with your rendering computer. You will want this for every camera.
However, you probably won't be able to sync the different computers of the multi-machine setup, for that, you would actually need to genlock the receiving computers. Also, there is might not much need for that, as when switching between cameras a few frames of delay are usually not noticeable.
Currently, Gateway only operates from one computer to another, and there's no built-in feature to target different computers within Gateway. However, it might be possible to configure a network where multiple computers receive data from a single Gateway host.

2.
Yes, Gateway can process any video streams that the Aximmetry Composer could receive. The Gateway will then transmit them in SRT.
Note, you could actually send the SRT directly to the Aximmetry instead of the Gateway, but then if you do this over the internet and they don't have timecode sync with the tracking, then it is very likely that the delay between the camera's video and tracking will vary overtime by a lot.
Warmest regards,
