Aximmetry AR with Unreal Motion Design not working

Hi friends!

Has anyone gotten Unreal Motion Design to work with Aximmetry AR?

Since we can't add a tag "AximmetryAR" to the objects its not possible to render them to Aximmetry.

Has anyone gotten this to work?

Cheers

/Richard

Hi,

I've just been trying the simplest setup possible for testing purposes : nothing but an axi virtual camera and a Motion design rectangle (AvaShapeActor) and it won't even cook at all for me.

It doesn't see any error, but then screams "critical error" / "Fatal Error".

Hi Richard,

You don't need to use the AximmetryAR tag on Motion Design elements.
You might not be seeing the Motion Design elements in AR because, without active camera tracking, the camera starts at the zero point. This is the same location where Motion Design elements are placed by default, meaning you are likely too close to them.

To resolve this issue, switch to Free Camera mode while you don't have camera tracking:

Hi Eric,

The error message you copied is a generic one from Unreal. However, there are usually preceding lines in the log that can help identify the source of the issue. I recommend copying more lines from the log, leading up to the part you shared.

Additionally, ensure that Visual Studio 2022 is installed according to the instructions provided here:  https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/starting-with-aximmetry/how-to-install-aximmetry/#aximmetry-de

Be aware that certain features in the Motion Design plugin, such as Motion Design's Cloners or Effectors, cannot be cooked. You'll encounter the same issue when trying to cook (package) with the standard Unreal Editor. There are several forum posts discussing these kinds of issues with the plugin.

Warmest regards,

Thanks Eifert,

Actually, all the lines before in the log say that everything is fine (0 error, 0 warning)... and then this "critical error" shows up.

That must be the cloner or an extrude modifier that cannot be cooked then (I was using one or the other). Thanks for the information.

Best,

Eric
