@Eiffert : I am running Aximmetry 2024 3.0. I am trying to cast shadows of my talent who is against a billboard in Aximmetry using one of the spotlights in my UE project. I have tested in UE using a cube to cast a shadow from this spotlight and that works well in UE. I have made adjustments to the spotlight in UE and when running in Live Sync I can see the shadows generated off my billboard in Aximmetry. I then rebuilt the lighting in UE, did a Save All and then cook that UE project for Aximmetry, updating the Aximmetry project so it has the new light settings.
There is a problem though. When the new project is run in Aximmetry outside of the Live Sync mode the shadows are no longer present. I went back to the Live Sync mode and run the modified project again, but this time it didn't generate shadows. I verified that the UE project is the correct one as I can still see the changes I made to the light settings in the original project. Now here is the strange part. If I stop Live Sync and make a change to the settings of the spotlight - luminosity - and then load back Live Sync the shadows reappear. I again rebuilt the lighting saved and cooked. Still no shadows in Aximmetry.
Cast shadows is activated in the UE project as well as the Aximmetry project.
Does this have anything to do with the manner of saving changes in UE.
Thanks
Linford
The problem isn’t with Aximmetry here. Static (built) lighting won’t cast any dynamic shadows, like from the billboard. When you make any changes to the light it’s not baked anymore, so until you bake lighting again it will act as a movable light and cast dynamic shadows. Set the light you want to cast dynamic shadows to either stationary or movable.
