Affecting lights; can one use a kind of node to group?

Hi there,

Maybe a simple question but can't find a solution...

I have multiple lights connected to an 'Affecting Lights' pin. I would like to group these through a kind of node to make routing less confusing/messy. But it seems I cannot use a node to join the lights to make only one connection to the affecting lights pin. In fact I want to create a seperate compound with all the lightings and only one pin connected to the affecting lights pin. I already tried all copy nodes but they all seem to be an incompatible type.

Anyone an idea how to accomplish?

Thanks a lot!!

Affecting lights; can one use a kind of node to group?

Hi Robert,

There isn't a module for that yet, but if you'd like, we can add it to our request list for future consideration. In the meantime, you can use the following workaround:

Instead of using the Talk Show Render NGP compound as the root Scene Node, consider using the Lights' Scene Node as the root node.
For example, you could structure it similar to this:
Affecting lights; can one use a kind of node to group?

Where the Render_General was modified to expose its Scene Node:
Affecting lights; can one use a kind of node to group?

And where the Root Lights compound should contain your lights and their associated compounds:

Warmest regards,

Thanks a lot for explaining the workaround! I’m not sure this is worth a feature request.
