External control of Aximmetry DE and audio delay

@Eiffert: I am using Broadcast DE in a live environment using 4 tracked cams without Billboard. So far  I am relatively satisfied with the results with the virtual sets and video portion  however I find that managing the audio is quite challenging  for one operator who has to  switch video inputs and  control audio from the same Control Panel. I am using three microphones, connected to  3 cameras and embedding this  to the camera's SDI. Is there  a way of controlling this audio  with an external device. In that way a second operator can be tasked with audio control  while another concentrates on the video  with the Control Panel. What device would you recommend..

The second issue I have with audio is that there is an audio delay  where the audio from at least one camera arrives earlier - or  later - than the other. The effect of this is that  when  the mic ports are  open and audio is is being  received  from one source  by   by more than 1 microphone, it creates an echo. What is the best way to adjust  for this  audio distortion . I imagine  this  could be  done by delaying the SDI output or  maybe just delaying the audio.

Thanks

@Eiffert : some feedback on that audio issue would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Linford,

You only need to delay the audio and not the video too, unless the video arrives before the audio.

Does the audio embedding happen in Aximmetry or does Aximmetry already receive the audio being embedded in the SDI?
If the audio is embedded in the SDI, you can use the Audio Level and Delay options available in the INPUT panel:

If not, you can achieve the same result using the Audio Delayer and Audio Fader or Audio Mixer modules:
External control of Aximmetry DE and audio delay
Note, that you can use any of these module's pins on any Control Board you create.

Or you can use the [Common_Studio]:Compounds\Record\Record_3-Audio.xcomp compound for just this purpose of mixing the different audios.

Regarding exposing audio parameters to a second operator through a device, I can not provide specific device recommendations. However, you can connect pretty much any external controller to Aximmetry. The supported protocols and some devices are listed here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/setting-up-inputs-outputs-for-virtual-production/introduction-to-setting-up-inputs-outputs-for-virtual-production/#external-controllers
Note, that you could even use your phone or any device that has a browser to easily access the Control Boards of Aximmetry. It is achieved by an internal web server of the Aximmetry Composer and it is documented here:
https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/setting-up-inputs-outputs-for-virtual-production/external-controllers/using-web-server-to-remote-control-aximmetry-from-a-web-browser/

Warmest regards,
