after hours tests, I suspect if the timecode didn't pass through,so I tried video input and system params, both timecode output is 0000000. is it the problem leading to the error message? I definitely turn TC output on in HDMI setup, how can I get timecode from camera a7s2?

Hi,

In your screenshot above, please ensure that you have the Video Recorder set to Realtime. Otherwise, it will perform offline rendering, which is incompatible with live inputs and timecode:

Additionally, you could omit the entire Master Timecode system while debugging. You can obtain the Timecode directly from the Video Input module:

Regarding the a7S II's ability to embed timecode into HDMI, I cannot confirm this. There are contradictory posts on the internet about this.
One source though states:

"The a7S II has multiple timecode recording options to meet different workflows. It has the standard 'Record Run" mode that only advances the timecode when recording, as well as "Free Run" timecode that advances the timecode even when not recording, which can be great for syncing multiple cameras at live events. It can also record timecode in both drop frame and non-drop frame modes. When recording internally the a7S II is also able to output timecode via HDMI."

Therefore, you might want to try obtaining the timecode while you are also recording with the a7S II.

Warmest regards,
