GPU % question 2024.1.0

I'm testing the RTX4090 card on a lower spec CPU i7 as test (yes I know I will upgrade to i9 when the CPU arrives)

While the GPU jumps in Aximmetry between 82-257% (while keeping 1080p50 sec on the Decklink card) the Windows Task manager performance GPU % reading is constant around 13%

So which one to trust? Either one of the two is worthless as reference, and I want to be sure.

Same for CPU: CPU in Axi = 56%, Windows Task Manager = 35%

Thanks for your help

Hi,

The CPU and GPU values are not equivalent to the ones reported in Windows Task Manager.

However, when it comes to GPU performance, ensure you're checking the 3D load of the graphics card in the Task Manager and make sure you are looking at the same graphics card in the Task Manager as you use in Aximmetry:

For CPU performance, the data presented in the Task Manager differs significantly from what you observe in Aximmetry. A critical distinction is that Task Manager calculates and displays the overall load across all CPU cores. This can be misleading because you might be constrained by a process that can only run on a single core.
To obtain a more detailed view, right-click in the Task Manager and select Change graph to > Logical processors.

In Aximmetry, it's vital to ensure that the FPS in the ProcessorLoad does not enter the red zone. For comprehensive information on the Processor Load Display, please visit: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/preparation-of-the-production-environment-phase-i/inner-workings-of-aximmetry/rendering-settings/#processor-load-display

Lastly, be mindful of potential issues like thermal throttling or power-saving options of Windows, as these can significantly affect performance assessments during testing.

Warmest regards,

;
