Can't Get Studio Virtual Grid To Appear

 

EDIT: SOLVED! Old MixedCam_Unreal_8+8-Cam compound didn't have an Out pin. Updated to latest and pinned it correctly.


I've been using Virtual Cameras to great success and now I'd like to get a Tracked Camera to work. I've managed to get a camera's output onto a billboard with tracking enabled. But what I'd really like to attempt (I think) is to not use Billboards or Virtuals and just have the Tracked camera's output be visible if it is pointed into/thru the Studio cropping tool (and not green/keyed), otherwise just show the UE scene.

However, I can't even get the Studio Virtual Grid cropping tool to appear in my MixedCam compound. This HAS to be a simple setup issue or a major lack of understanding on my part, but after searching and trying so many things I finally made my first forum post.

I'm just gonna screenshot everything I think is relevant and paste it below. Please let me know if any other information is required! (Note that I've set all the positions of relevant objects to 0 for the screenshots, but I've definitely exhausted playing with moving things around but I can just never get anything to appear unless Billboards are on.)

Looking at the log window to the left, it seems like a lot of modules are missing from the installation. I recommend re-installing Aximmetry and make sure to choose to install all additional content when you run the installer.

No luck. When using any Tracked Camera, no camera input is shown when billboards are off and the Studio Virtual Tool doesn't render.

I've re-installed everything and managed to fix the Common Studio messages due to old references in an outdated MixedCam_Unreal_8+8-Cam compound, I think.

I have another project in the same folder (TheStage) that uses the MixedCam_Unreal_3+3-Cam compound. Virtual and Tracked Cameras work as expected, as does the Studio Virtual Tool. I switched the project having issues (TheSoldier) to use the same MixedCam_Unreal_3+3-Cam compound, but nothing improved. Virtual Cameras still worked as expected, but when switching to Tracked Cameras with billboards turned off, only the UE5 environment appeared.

Since the issue appears to be with TheSoldier project, I've looked for differences in the projects from the UE5 and Aximmetry sides for hours with no luck. I've removed and re-added the Mixed Camera (1-3 billboards) from the UE5 side and re-cooked both projects with no differences and nothing notable in the Console log.

Any advice on what to look for? Is there a way to get more detail out of the Aximmetry debugging?

FIXED IT!

The previous version of MixedCam_Unreal_8+8-Cam had no Out pin? Either that's how older versions worked or it got corrupted somehow.

Hi Leopard,

The Out pin was indeed missing. That pin has always been part of the MixedCam compound.

Please be aware that when the compound is in edit mode, as shown:

it is not loaded from the linked compound. Consequently, any updates to Aximmetry will not affect it. For more information on linked compounds, you can refer to our guide here.
