Using Virtual Camera of OBS Studio as a Directshow source in Aximmetry DE Studio beta 2023.3.0 crashes Aximmetry

I wanted to mention that I use Directshow sources using the /dshowlegacy command switch when using Aximmetry DE Studio BETA version 2023.3.0

I noticed that when I use OBS Studio's virtual camera as a Directshow source, it defaults the resolution to 640x480 and if I attempt to select another resolution, it crashes Aximmetry.

You can test this by downloading OBS Studio and turning on the Virtual Camera inside it and selecting this as a input source (/dshowlegacy switch required on startup of the Aximmetry Composer to see input)

Please make sure that sources that require the /dshowlegacy command to work are still functional and do not crash Aximmetry.

Thank you.

Hi,

Thank you for letting us know about the issue with the beta release of 2023.3.0. We're on it and are working to get it sorted out. Your report is very helpful to us.

Warmest regards,

Hi,

We've found that the crash actually happens in the OBS Virtual Camera driver.

OBS offers the YUY2 pixel format as available. Since it is the first preference of Aximmetry, it selects that format. But upon this the OBS driver crashes. With other pixel formats it works correctly.

We'll provide a workaround for this in the next release.

In the meantime we recommend using NDI for sending video between OBS and Aximmetry (it is also our recommended way generally, being a more robust solution).

Warmest regards,
