No UHD capability with my Professional license

I am unable to input and/or output UHD video. The specs for the software I bought list 4K as a capability. Does this only support true 4K? Or is UHD supported and I am just doing something wrong?

Using a Kona 5 card. Composer always crashes the second I do any UHD setting or send in any video in UHD.

Please help!

UHD is definitively supported and we use it all the time with our Decklink 8K Pro. Seems to be an issue with your particular card. I also noticed the “Video Port Limit exceeded” error message. Aximmetry Professional supports a total of 4 inputs or outputs, so make sure you haven’t mapped more than that. For troubleshooting, I would remove any mapped inputs and only map one output.

Hi.

You should have AJA software installed with version 16.2.2 or above. And perform a firmware update on your card if necessary.

As TwentyStudios said, in Professional editions, four SDI/NDI I/O ports are included, otherwise, you get the “Video Port Limit exceeded” error message.

If the “Video Port Limit exceeded” error is fixed and you have the latest driver, but you still get the "video device mode not supported" error, then do you get the same error with a different frame rate? And do you use 10bit and quad link?

Warmest regards,

Thanks for the replies.

@TwentyStudios - I'm using a compound with 3 inputs, and attempting to use the 4th as an output. All works fine in 1080. You suggested removing any mapped inputs. How do I do this?

@Eifert - I'm using AJA driver versions 16.2.4.6 or above. I'm using the KONA 5 (4K) Firmware. I'm not using any NDI, and my card only has 4 BNC SDI I/O ports. I use those as 3 inputs and 1 for the Output to my router/switcher. I'm currently set to YUV-10 Format. No Quad link or Dual link.  Everything seems fine in 1080, but nothing ever works in UHD. Any other suggestions?

Hi,

So you are still experiencing the “Video Port Limit exceeded” error. If so, try disabling 2 of the 3 inputs in the AJA Control Panel and see if that fixes it. But before that, a screenshot of your AJA Control Panel could help us a lot:

And a screenshot about the Video Outputs window in Aximmetry:

Also, instead of the YUV-10, you could try setting the format to something that is not 10bit and see if that fixes the issue.

You could also reset all Aximmetry settings to ensure you don't use a Video Port somewhere in Aximmetry.
You can do so, by selecting Manage Settings on the startup window. Then click on backup, and save your settings. And then click Reset.
If this didn't fix the “Video Port Limit exceeded” error, then you can restore your settings from the Backup file with the Restore button in the Manage Settings.

Warmest regards,

Hi,

For the benefit of future readers, if 4K input is not working with your KONA 5 capture card, it's recommended that you use the 8K firmware. More information on this can be found here.

Warmest regards.
