Issues with video playback and reflections

 

My project involves a keynote-style presentation where an actor interacts with a virtual environment created entirely in Unreal Engine. The stage was designed by another person who isn't available anymore and while the project is nearly complete, I am facing some technical issues with the project.


1. The virtual screen designed for the stage is not playing video properly. The text on the screen is squiggly and the video repeats itself at the edges of the screen.




2. The reflection areas and shadows on the stage are not natural as seen in the pictures. While I am able to produce the shadow from the other light sources, the shadow from the video being played behind the actor does not produce any shadows.

The screen seems to have poorly done IV mapping, which is why you see the squiggly text and repeated edges. 

Regarding the reflections, are you using Screen Space,  Lumen, Raytraced or Planar reflections? Normally an emissive screen material won’t cast shadow, so you would have to emulate that with dynamic lighting.
