failed to install common library 2023.2.0 Error code -532462766

Trying to install a clean build of Broadcast DE 2023.2.0

I think I've seen this issue before and had it solved by support but I can't find a record of my post in the forum to refresh what the cause was.

Firewall is off, installing as an administrator, on a fresh Windows 11, Nuc 11 Extreme i9 - 2TB of storage.

This appears to be permissions related, I'm not technical, please let me know where I'm going wrong. Multiple attempts, multiple failures, screenshot below of the issue.

Hi,

Yes, it could be a write permission issue or a network issue.

You should be able to install Aximmetry by deselecting Unreal Engine for Aximmetry from the installation:

And deselecting all content packages:

After this, the installer should finish without a problem as it won't download anything extra from the internet.

Then you can install the content packages and Unreal Engine for Aximmetry by downloading them from here: https://my.aximmetry.com/User/MyDownloads

Warmest regards,

Thankyou for the advice,

I've split the process as suggested and successfully installed Aximmetry and Unreal Editor for Unreal (2023.2.0). I've downloaded the additional packages. Unfortunately, I'm getting the following error whenever I attempt to either start Aximmetry or install one of the additional packages.

The dll mentioned in the error message 'is' present:

In your opinion, is this a further permissions issue specific to the original support request or perhaps something Windows 11 related? eg: is the system blocking Aximmetry from accessing the Program folder?

Here are the machine specs for this PC:

Footnote: This build is for development purposes away from the studio and not intended for live production, the GFX card is temporary and onboard until the new one is shipped.

Hi,

This is the problem:

The Windows Pro-N is a stripped-down version of Windows, and it doesn't come with Media Feature Pack installed on it. You can download Media Feature Pack from here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3145500/media-feature-pack-list-for-windows-n-editions

For future reference, the following error can be caused by the lack of the Media Feature Pack on Windows:

Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
Unable to load DLL 'AximmetryEngine. Main.dll': The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

And probably this error too:
Failed to install Common Library 2023,2.0
Error code -532462766

Thankyou for your perseverance with this issue. After installing the Media Feature Pack in Windows 11 failed to improve upon the problem I decided to pivot to Windows 10 Pro and reinstalled the OS. I now have a clean install present and the issue persists:

I've been able to install the Adobe suite, Davinci Resolve and Unreal Engine for Aximmetry and a standalone version of Unreal Engine 5.2.

I'm still unable to launch Aximmetry or install the additional packages.

This is the new spec with the new Windows 10 Pro Spec:

Appreciate any further insight as to why Aximmetry is failing.

Hi,

That is quite strange, multiple people had this before with the same error and Windows Pro-N. And installing Media Feature Pack fixed their error.
I guess now the source of the error is different.

You could contact sales@aximmetry.com where we can give you more direct assistance in finding out the source of the issue. Of course, it would be done for free.
Or you can do the following to find out which DLL is missing from your system:

1) Download this Dependency scanner program:
https://lucasg.github.io/Dependencies/
and unpack it wherever you like.

2) Start DependenciesGui.exe from the unzipped folder.

3) Drag the following file into the Dependencies.exe:
...\Aximmetry DE\bin\AximmetryEngine.Main.dll

4) Right-click the top item in the list and select Expand All.

5) Go to the bottom list and click on the Type field:

6) If you see any lines on the top with N/A info, please send a screenshot of these.

Thank you very much in advance for your assistance and patience.

Warmest regards,

Hi,

Also, did you use Aximmetry's previous versions on that same computer? If so, can you still install 2023.1.0 and start it without the error?

Warmest regards.

@NYShine: Could you check the file info on the DLL Aximmetry claims it can’t find and check if it’s been blocked by Windows? I’ve had similar issues when this was the cause.

I think I've figured it out...

I was running this NUC with an eGPU as a temporary solution. The NUC 11 Extreme has room inside for a full length GPU but we're waiting on a new card to arrive at the studio. In the interim the 1080 GTX eGPU we had to hand was working fine with this machine with Unreal and Disguise but not with Aximmetry. On a hunch I stripped the eGPU down and took the card and put it in the NUC and now that it's on board and installed Aximmetry is running 'fine'. I haven't had a chance to test it much further than launching it but I'm now able to install the common library and the additional packages missing from the original download. I haven't run the dependencies test as we're in a working place now. Once the new card arrives and I rebuild the eGPU, I would be happy to try further tests to determine why Aximmetry didn't work when other products did if it's useful to you?

Thank you for your patient and helpful input troubleshooting this issue with us.

Hi NYShine,

Thank you for sticking around and finding the source of the issue.

We don't require any further tests on eGPU. We will try to find a solution for this in a future release.

Warmest regards,

Hi all

Same issue here, but with a regular Windows Home version. I have followed your instructions to determine which dlls are missing and those are the results:

My laptop is:

I cannot start any Aximmetry program, not just DE Composer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi again

Installed DirectX runtimes with this download: Download DirectX End-User Runtime from Official Microsoft Download Center

and Composer starts with no issues so far.

Our Clients also have problems with simple installation. This is sooo embarrassing.
We have clients with very restricted IT Security, it took us over 5 days to install your soft! (all agreements with IT dep)
They don't have positive UX at the beginning Aximmetry's adventure.
When it will be fixed ?

Hi,

We are terribly sorry for the bad experience.
We have on our list to improve on this.

Until that, can you detail what was the problem and how was it fixed. Was it an issue missing Windows features, like the ones listed here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/preparation-of-the-production-environment-phase-i/supported-hardware/pc/software-environment/ if it wasn't one of these, then your feedback can help us greatly in the future to find a proper fix for it.

Warmest regards,

Hi,

The latest Aximmetry release, version 2024.1.0, features a new installer that ensures the correct installation of the missing DirectX Runtime, in addition to addressing other installation-related issues.

Warmest regards,
