Synchronization signal confirmation

Hello.

Synchronization signals are essential in virtual production, is there a function to check if the rendering is perfectly in sync with the synchronization signals? For example, a graphical representation of the synchronization status.

Hi,

Are you referring to synchronization signals like Genlock?
If so, there is no way to detect if the incoming video or tracking is genlocked or not. Cause the video and tracking protocols don't carry such information. Also, what Genlock does is that it tells your camera, tracking, or computer to take a frame at this moment, with this ensuring that all the connected devices record frames at the same intervals. It does nothing more.
More on it here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/syncing-and-genlock/

If you are referring to Timecode, then that can be detected in Aximmetry. It can also be used to sync devices if they use the same Timecode. There are also various other ways to use Timecode.
And for example, you could compare incoming Timecode from tracking or camera devices like this:

Hello Eifert

Thanks for your reply.

The only way to confirm Genlock is to look at the final composite result and determine that the live action and CG are superimposed.

Understood. Thank you very much.

Hi,

The live-action and CG can be out of sync even if you have Genlock. Genlock doesn't know the delay between your computer and the camera or the tracking system. So video and tracking input can have different delays which will make live-action and CG to be out of sync.

What Genlock does instead, is to ensure that these delays won't change over time. So under your production, the delay between these devices won't change.
But you will still need to set the correct tracking delay when you turn on your devices: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/latency-and-delay-in-aximmetry/#tracking-delay

Warmest regards,
