Help! Production tomorrow! Tracked Cam record for post-production

Hello,

I have a production tomorrow, the Unreal scene we must use is very heavy and it often drop frame rate under 25 fps, this is due to the use of Lumen in a very complex scene.

My idea is to use a non Lumen scene as preview and record tracked cam (Optitrack), and then render the background off-line for post-production compositing.

I read the documentation, but I'm pretty new to Aximmetry and I want to be sure not to have surprises.

So I record tracking data alone using "tracking only", "master TC" and "Use input TC", but what's next?

I think I have to setup a Recorder node and play the recorded (tracking) sequence with the Lumen turned back on, is it correct? If so is there a way to render frame by frame to be sure it doesn't drop the fps?

Thanks for any tips and help.

@Davidrynes: That’s a different workflow and importing tracking data to render out from Unreal doesn’t work 100%. The camera offset isn’t captured and neither is lens distortion. Better to stick to using the internal tracking recording format and offline rendering out of Aximmetry.

@TwentyStudios would you mind sharing some tips?

@davidrynes thank you for the video. I can record fbx with timecode from within Optitrack's software Motive. But I'll watch the video anyway.

For example, to record tracking only, as .xdata, during the shootin', do I have to use the record button inside Tracked Camera compound or do I have to use the Recorder node? Or is it the same? Maybe I should use the recorder node to render the background with the Lumen back on?

And by the way, is it possible to setup a frame per frame render, like an off-line one?

@Merovingio: Yes, you use the button in the Tracked Cam compound. You should definitely test that you’re getting time code recorded properly and that everything works as expected before the shoot.

To set up per frame rendering, just select your desired frame rate in the Recorder module instead of Realtime. That will render out frames as fast as it can. Doesn’t work with live video input of course.

Thank you for the help. So I'll use the record node to render the scene and the built in recorder in the tracker cam compound to record track data.
