is there any way of customizing the matrix preview? i got a project with 12 cams, but i can see only the program and one camera preview in the multiview. how can i edit which camera and how many i see when i click in the matrix button?

Aximmetry doesn't have such 12 camera compound. So whoever made it, didn't really take the time to change the matrix preview to support 12 cameras.
You could fix it by adding the VCam_MatrixLabel.xcomp compound. You could add 8 camera matrix view using that compound, probably without significant changes in your camera compound.
You can check out one of the official 8 camera compounds to see how the VCam_MatrixLabel is connected inside a virtual camera compound:
