Unreal 5.2 Question !

Hello,

The last Unreal engine 5.2 preview have been released and we can see that they add the possibility to shoot with multiple Vcams at the same times, does it means we will be able to record multiple Unreal Camera with multiple cameras in Aximmetry ?

Hi,

We are investigating this. However, note that Aximmetry doesn't release Unreal's preview builds. So Unreal Editor 5.2 for Aximmetry is probably quite far away.

Warmest regards,

Hi Selgy,

We looked into this. The multiple Vcams actually means that multiple users can view the scene from different camera positions in Multi-User Editing: https://docs.unrealengine.com/5.2/en-US/multi-user-editing-in-unreal-engine/
Before Unreal 5.2, in Multi-User Editing only one computer could use the virtual camera of the editor. From starting 5.2 the multi editing server can handle more than one virtual camera object, so everybody can use their own virtual camera in Multi-User Editing.

Sadly, this won't enable recording multiple Unreal Camera with multiple cameras in Unreal or in Unreal for Aximmetry. For that, you will still need a multi-machine setup or do it in post-production.

Warmest regards,

It is already possible to render multiple views at the same time from Unreal (of course at the cost of reduced performance) and send them to
Aximmetry via NDI.

I know Zero Density can also render multiple views (again with reduced performance).

What is preventing Aximmetry from doing the same ?

Hi Eric,

You can render multiple views with for example Render Targets. But you can not render using multiple Cine Camera Actors (player camera) simultaneously, using different render methods result in a loss of quality and some of the effects.

Also, you don't need NDI, you can use the Set Aximmetry Video blueprint node to send video from additional renders: https://aximmetry.com/learn/virtual-production-workflow/preparation-of-the-production-environment-phase-i/obtaining-graphics-and-virtual-assets/creating-content/creating-content-for-aximmetry-de/ue5-how-to-install-and-work-with-the-unreal-engine-based-de-edition/#passing-data-from-unreal-to-aximmetry

Warmest regards,
