Unreal project cooking issue

 

Hello,

I spotted a strange point after updating Aximmetry.

Aximmetry composer usually stop and play automatically while cooking Unreal project, but now I have to do it manually or it does not apply things that changed on project.

Plus, from few days ago, Aximmetry composer does not let me put Unreal project on compound by drag&drop. I have to import project file manually to put it on the compound.

I have the same issue where the composer does NOT stop properly when cooking in Unreal Engine for Aximmetry.   I think the drag&drop for Unreal projects does still work for me though.

BTW:  Cooking while Aximmetry Composer is running will cause the cook to fail and then forces me to have to exit Aximmetry Composer before attempting to cook again.

I guess no one has a good solution without exiting Aximmetry just like previous version of Aximmetry and on drag&srop issue yet.

Hi,

We couldn't recreate these issues, so we will need some more information.

When clicking on cooking while running an Unreal project in Aximmetry, you should see this message in Unreal Editor:

After this Unreal render will stop in Aximmetry if you were running the same project as the one you are cooking.
So note that this message appears even if you run a different project than the one you are currently cooking. And in that case, the Unreal in Aximmetry won't be stopped.

If you are still experiencing this issue, you could try reinstalling Unreal Editor for Aximmetry, while making sure that all other Unreal Editor for Aximmetry is uninstalled from your system.
Also, do you get any error messages in the Unreal output log, or in Aximmetry and in Aximmetry's Unreal Engine log:

If so, what is the message?


In the case of drag-and-drop, does the issue happen from dropping from a File Explorer program or from dropping Aximmetry's File Browser panel?
And which Windows OS do you use and what is its version? You can easily look up your exact Windows version by using the System Information Windows app:

I have the same issue. 
In order to reproduce the issue i have noticed that when i create a fresh UE project and open it in Aximmetry Composer, everything works just fine.
But when I copy this fresh UE project to other location (like to the desktop for example), Aximmetry loses its link to it and i need to manually restart.

Even if i start a new Aximmetry project and pass it the copied UE project, it still wont recognize it and auto-restart it upon cooking.

Thank you for the detailed feedback.
There is indeed an issue with the auto-restart feature upon cooking when the Unreal project is located under a Windows User’s folder, such as Pictures, Downloads, or Desktop. However, when moving the project to a different location than Users, I didn't experience it would affect any functionality. We are currently investigating this issue, and it will likely be fixed in a future version.

Also, note that you should avoid storing any Unreal projects or executables on the Desktop of Windows, as this can cause various issues with their functionality.
