Unreal Scene not opening on remote render machines.

Hello,

I had this working perfectly on the previous version, but after updating to 5.1 cooked projects will not open on the remote render machines. Every other aspect of the remote setup is working perfectly. It seems to be a problem with the cooked project. I get this error:

Please disregard.

I resolved this by setting up the render machines to see a mapped network drive rather than sharing folders over the local network. The local network method worked before but doesn't seem to with UE 5.1

Thanks

Thank you for your solution, I had the same problem on my render end computer. I'll try your solution now.

Hi,

Just a heads up, we are investigating this issue with the network path and Failed to open descriptor file error. We managed to recreate it on some of our systems. And while we are working on a fix, the best way to circumvent this is to use a mapped network drive.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue is causing and we appreciate your patience.

Warmest regards,

I just got a trial license to see if I could setup a render machine successfully and this is the error I get. The network drive trick doesn't seem to work for me either. I got it to work by pointing both machines to an externally mapped drive. Mapping either machine directly didn't work.

Hello!

Can you share how do you sett up the render machines to see a mapped network drive?

Thanks!

Hi,

You can map a local network shared folder like this: Open File Explorer. In File Explorer select This PC. On top of this window click Map network drive.

Best regards

Hello

I Have the Problem, that Aximmetry isn't able to see my mapped network drives.

via UNC Path I can open the shared folder but Unreal can't same error as described above. I can Open the Unreal Project via Windows explorer in a mapped drive. Aximmetry can't see my Network drive. If I try to open an Aximmetry file in that folder Aximmetry said that the Path "does not exist"

@Andreas Braig: it’s probably a user permissions thing. Aximmetry won’t see the network drive since it doesn’t have permissions for it. You might be able to get around it my entering the direct volume path to the share (if it’s a shared NAS volume.

Hi Andreas,

Running Aximmetry with Administrator permission is probably enough to fix your issue:
