Allow virtuals 2022 5.0 (Unreal)

Hi,

I have commonly issues with allow virtuals.

For exmaple, the dark zone at the bottom of this billboard disappear when allow virtuals is off:

There is nothing in the scene explaining this.

In this second case, when using multiple billboards, the video input is actually duplicated and torn up in the second one:

Best regards

Do you have raytraced translucency enabled? That can cause issues like this.

I didn't find anything in Unreal about "ray traced translucency" precisely. Ray traced is disable. Separate translucency is checked.

I've found out that only the billboard B is showing this isssue. If I put the billboard C in exactly the same place as the B, there is no issue with it.

I've found out. The link to this Track Cam Transfer pin for this billboard was broken in the Mixed Unreal 8 + 8 compound.

Hi Eric,

Did you find this broken connection within an unedited compound? Or the connection was broken while editing the compound?

Warmest regards,

Hi Eifert,

I had edited this compound, testing your inverted mask technique, but not this part. I can't actually tell. The other scene with the dark area issue is using the same common compoundand not showing up this disconnection.

Regarding the dark area, i've found alsothat as soon an Aximmetry billboard shadow is overlapping an unreal one, they become fardarker on their intersection. They also take a wrong and distorted form.

Best

Hi Eric,

Intersecting shadows shouldn't look darker if the shadows have the same light source.
It is very likely that you have 2 or more light sources with shadows. And you see an intersection of shadows from different light sources. In that case, it is normal to see darker shadows as they are blocking different lights.

Warmest regards,
