Build Server with Unreal Editor for Aximmetry

Hi,

for reasons we want to build a dedicated server and clients with Unreal Editor for Aximmetry.
This is not possible.

Its not possible because the possibility for building is missing in general.

A second try to open a project which is made with Unreal Editor for Aximmetry with another Version of the engine where building server is generally possible fails because of some errors in the build process. Clear, the other version of the editor is missing some aximmetry stuff which is throwing errors.

So could you give us please somehow the possibility to build a dedicated server for linux and a client for windows?

That would be great and would help us so much.

Hi,

We have multi-machine setups that might fit your needs: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/setting-up-a-multi-machine-configuration/ and https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/multi-machine-in-a-large-studio-environment/
If you can tell us more about your project, we might be able to find a solution where you don't need a dedicated server.

Aximmetry and Unreal for Aximmetry only support the following Operating Systems:
Windows 11
Windows 10 64-bit 1803 or later
Windows Server 2019 or later

And you could still try building with another Version of the engine where building a server is generally possible and before doing so you remove the Aximmetry camera from the maps and from the content folder of your project. If you still get errors, we can help with fixing those if you copy-paste here the errors.

Warmest regards

We need, what I have written. Using multimachine doesn't help in any way.
We want to combine Aximmetry with a little multiplayer game, so also it does not help to remove the Aximmetry stuff. If I did not need it, I would not have post it here. Like I said, I know how to build a server and all that stuff.
Linux is needed because it is cheaper and simpler to let a linux server run in the cloud instead of a windows machine.
Would be cool if you can help in a long term.

While I write this I might have thought of another solution.
Linux is the least important thing about the whole thing, because since we have a good connection to the net, we can run the server local.
And perhaps it did work without dedicated server since I also could make a listen server, perhaps that should work, so there should be no need for source version of the engine (which is needed to create a dedicated server).
But the general problem remains, that I could not build the project. We need a built version so we can give it to users so that they can connect to the server.

Can you tell me please why there is no possibility to build in ue for aximmetry?

Hi,

Can't you make a build with the normal Epic Unreal, then open a copy of the project with Unreal for Aximmetry, add the Aximmetry camera, and use it? Or the network solution is reliant on some kind of version numbering, which would mismatch between Unreal for Aximmetry (client) and normal Epic Unreal (server)?

There is no possibility to build with Unreal for Aximmetry. Cause when cooking the project, Aximmetry already uses that build process and the resulting build needs Aximmetry to run.

Warmest regards,
