Which Calibrator should I use?

What is the difference between Basic Calibrator and Camera Calibrator?

What is the correct way to use these?

Hi,

The Basic Calibrator has been made before the Camera Calibrator.

In the Basic Calibrator, you have to manually figure out the focal length (zoom mapping) and you have to measure the offset between your camera and your tracking.
While in the Camera Calibrator, the program figures out the focal length and the offset. You just need to move the camera from one place to the other and you need a calibration board.

The Camera Calibrator also calculates lens distortion. While the Basic Calibrator can not.

Currently, the Camera Calibrator can not calculate focus positions (focus mapping). But you can calculate focus positions in the Basic Calibrator.

The calibration files are interchangeable between the programs, they can be opened and edited by both programs.

The Camera Calibrator is documented here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/camera-calibrator/
