It depends a lot on what kind of input and output connections are you using.
For example in the case of SDI, it only supports a 16:9 aspect ratio. So you will need to do some tricks, like recording in 90 degrees or cropping the video.
And for example in the case of NDI, you can set any input or output aspect ratio, including portrait ratios.
