When building Compounds with multiple Controls those tools tend to become humungous and unpleasant to navigate. Many Controls however don't need to be accessed all the time but only sporadically.
It would be cool if a new control type like 'nested' or 'reveal' could be introduced which would allow you to ... well ... 'nest' controls together. Here's a Q&D mockup:

Of course the On/Off switch should be substituted with some Open/Close Nest switch.

Instead of an on/off switch, you will have a dropdown. Where you could name the first item in the list as "hide" and don't have a node with that name in the compound, so when that is selected, no extra pins are shown.
Nevertheless, such a solution as yours would be much easier to set up. So we added it to our request list and we will consider adding it in future releases.
Also, people asked about features like this before, there are a whole lot more types of formating options that can be implemented along this.
