Controller Midi, UTP, USB....confused.

Hi All,

I'm a new user off Aximmetry software and want to use it for in house productions and customer work in our large dedicated Green Screen Studio.

I'm a bit lost on the controller side of Aximmetry. You can assign actions to midi and dmx but there is no tutorial as far as I can see witch hardware is best?

The Skaarhoj Air Fly serie's goes over UTP. (not MidI)

The Stream Deck goes over USB. (not Midi)

Game control option handy for PTZ control? (joystick)

What do most Aximmetry users use? The desktop version with a own build layout on a second screen or maybe a touch screen?

Are there more resources for more info about Aximmetry besides sites like (youtube), Linkedin and facebook?

Thanks in advanced,

Peter, Endorfine Productions

Yes, great question. How can we manage to send commands from other programms, to implement external controls?

Update

I figured out that you can use the stream deck (free) software to asaign hotkeys. If you asaign a hotkey to a keyboard button like F1 and you asiagn F1 to a stream deck button it works on the mobile stream deck app. (one month free) Aximmetry switches too (in this case)  camera angles. F1 F2 and so on. (the software is not a switcher. Hardware or mobile app is)  Not sure the Stream deck hardware (usb) will work. I think it does, as a game controller works, and you can also connect with usb to asaign a button. Or am I wrong?

Cheers, Peter

You can find more info about MIDI and DMX controlling in the following old topics

https://my.aximmetry.com/forum/postdetails/50-open-sound-control-osc-and-midi-protocols

https://my.aximmetry.com/forum/postdetails/81-how-can-i-use-dmxartnet-to-control-my-scen

then you can wait to aximmetry support to answer other questions.

Hi Ahmed,

Thank you for the links.

Maybe not the most secure way (trough wifi) to switch between cams and virtual pop ups etc. but this software is pretty good also

and its a one off fee of €13.99 I believe. Worth looking at maybe. What do you use now? There own interface?

Good topic about social media.

Another one is Zoom, Skype integration.

If you assign keyboard keys to Streamdeck buttons (using its Windows client software), you can easily use it with Aximmetry, because it emulates ordinary keyboard presses.
You simply have to choose Assign Keyboard in Aximmetry, and press the corresponding button on Streamdeck.

One note that do not assign F1, F2 etc. keys, because they are reserved for Aximetry menu shortcuts. Instead use 1,2,3,...  or Numpad 1,2,3...., or letters.

For MIDI or DMX use the links provided by Ahmed (thanks Ahmed!).

If you connect a game controller (xbox, joystick, vive etc.) (and install its software properly, if necessary) it will appear as a Game device in Aximmetry. In this case you choose Assign Game then press a button on the controller.

Please implement support for keyboard modifiers. It would make it both easier and more secure to map out controls to hotkeys.

FYI, I have used the Elgato Stream Deck using a MIDI plugin and then map the controls via MIDI to Aximmetry camera controls.  This may have a benefit to the keyboard mappings in some cases since Keyboard mapping can be affected by what application is currently in focus on the desktop.

Don't forget to install the "LoopBe1" virtual Midi Driver here:
