Camera Sequencer feature idea

Hi there.

In the Cameras page we can smoothly transform between different camera paths.

To achieve the same effect in Camera Sequencer I added a few more tools to the xcomp as below.
A couple smooth modules and a global delay and on/off control.

Works like a charme, and maybe you guys want to incorporate this into future versions?

Cheers & all the best.

Eric.

In addition, it would be just great if we could also control a 'virtual aperture' with the sequencer to achieve different depth-of-field effects!

Hi Eric,

Nice suggestion, we added the smooth control to our request list.

About the virtual aperture, do you use it in Unreal by modifing Aximmetry's Cine Camera Blueprint? And can you describe the workflow with aperture and focus values (focus which is already exposed to Aximmetry from Unreal). It can help us implementing aperture related features in the future.

Warmest regards,

Hi Eric,

In the latest Aximmetry version (2024.3.0 BETA), the [Common]:Compounds\Camera\Camera_Sequencer.xcomp has been updated to be able to provide smooth control. Additionally, some other small fixes have been made to the compound.

Warmest regards,

Hi,

Aximmetry 2025.2.0 BETA has just been released.
This update introduces general handling of camera aperture settings throughout the system (including the Sequencer and Camera_Sequencer compound):

  • Calibration Profiles now can contain a mapping between the raw Iris Encoder values and the F-number (called Aperture throughout the system). It can be edited in the Basic Calibrator app (or directly in the XML file).
  • Iris encoder value is read from protocols that support it. (Free-D officially does not support it, but some tracking systems like HTC Vive Mars use the spare "user" field for that purpose, and Aximmetry reads that.)
  • Some camera tracking systems and protocols are capable of sending the final aperture value (Canon CV Protocol, NCam, Trackmen, AGTP). In these cases this value is used.
  • For Virtual Camera paths, the aperture values can be defined for the A, B points both by mouse combination (Alt + Space + Right Mouse) or numerically.
  • Record_3-Audio: aperture is added as an animated user property to the FBX.

Warmest regards,
