CALIBRATION PRESET DOES NOT SHOW UP AS A TRACKING MODE IN AXIMMETRY COMPOSER

Hi!

We have a professional edition of aximmetry and yesterday we bought the aximmetry camera calibrator, we already did a preset of the calibration but this does not show up in aximmetry composer as a camera profile that should be in the "TRACKING MODE" in the tracked input

Hi,

You need Aximmetry version 2022.2.0 or later to use the Camera Calibrator.
For using it with version 2022.1.0, read my next comment in this thread.

Hi Eifert, your statement doesn't match what I was told via aximmetry email, and in my downloads for 2022.1.0 I have calibrator matching version. i purchased the calibrator based on that conversation, and am having the same issue as the OP

Hi Khoale,

Sorry for the confusion and for experiencing this issue.
The 2022.1.0 version has a problem with saving. You need to copy and paste the calibrations from:
C:\Users\
*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Aximmetry DE\options__Calibrator__*...*\__DeviceSetups\CameraTracking\Cameras
To this folder:
C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Aximmetry DE\options__*YOUR AXIMMETRY LICENSE TYPE__...*\__DeviceSetups\CameraTracking\Cameras

After the release of version 2022.2.0, there is no need to do such copy-pasting when making calibrations.

That worked. thanks! are calibration files all cross-compatible? meaning i purchased calibrator separately and have the latest version, and want to use a profile in a prior release of composer such as 2022.1.0

Hi Khoale,

Yes, they are cross-compatible. You will be able to use the calibrations from 2022.1.0.
But you will have to copy them here: C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Aximmetry DE\options__Installed\__DeviceSetups\CameraTracking\Cameras

Hi,

Aximmetry version 2022.3.0 has been released today. It includes easier ways to handle and move Calibration Profiles:

Calibrator: added Export and Import functions for Calibration Profiles to make exchanging between multiple PCs easier.
Calibrator Profile property can contain not only an item from the internal profile list, but a full path to a profile XML file as well. This way it is easy to use a profile from an external source (no need to copy it into the user's Cameras folder). To select an external file choose "<file…>" from the profile list, or simply drag and drop the file onto the property field from File Browser or Windows Explorer. In addition, modifying / overwriting the profile file from an external software triggers an automatic reloading.
Version History

And in multi-machine setup:

Added features that make operation easier for large studio environments where many renderer machines have to be dynamically allocated to multiple controller machines:

  • In the list of Remote Renderers, it is indicated whether the given machine is free or currently used by another controller machine.
  • Enabled to store all device configuration info and Calibration Profiles in a project folder as well. If you create a project folder named "DeviceSetups" then it will be used by the system instead of the user's __DeviceSetups subfolder. This way all the remote machines will see the exact same settings and profiles through the file sharing. PLEASE NOTE that if you decide to use this new location you have to manually copy all the previous content from the original __DeviceSetups folder into the new one.
  • Enabled camera presets to help dynamic assignment of camera tracking configurations to the renderer machines.
  • See more info.

Warmest regards,

So i booted up antilatency after not using it for some time, and the tracking mode calibration files were not showing up in aximmetry. im still on 2022.1.0, and i had calibrator 2022.3.0.

I double checked that the XML files were in the correct folder, but still wasn't showing up. i tried updating to calibrator 2022.5.0, with no effect. i downgraded back to calibrator 1.0, also to no effect. restarted, re-copied files over, and at some point the files showed up again in aximmetry, except all but one gave the error: contains no tracking calibration data.

any idea what's going on? if i make new calibration files in calibrator v5.0, will they show up and work properly in axi 2022.1.0?

Hi Darren,

If you want to keep using 2022.1.0 with the higher version number of calibrators, then after saving the calibration file, you have to copy them to this folder: C:\Users\*USERNAME*\AppData\Roaming\Aximmetry DE\options__*YOUR AXIMMETRY LICENSE TYPE__...*\__DeviceSetups\CameraTracking\Cameras

If one of the files won't work, you can easily share it with us here to figure out the source of the issue. You can open the calibration files with a text editor like Notepad and copy-paste its text here.

Warmest regards,
