Flickering Unreal Scene when Key is behind

We have the following problem in our current production:

We have a billboard with keyed footage from a Sony FX6 4K in an Unreal Scene. All Unreal objects in front of the keyed footage are flickering. See the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msh2YHuad5o at 6:00 min.

If we remove the billboard and key the flickering is gone, or if we move the billboard the flickering also moves. Unfortunately this problem is so significant that it will jeopardize further productions unless we get the problem solved.

Unfortunately, the following changes have not helped:

- Update,

- FullHD 50i or 50p,

- using different keyers, turning off most of the

We are in desperate need of support.

Specs:

- Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900X CPU @ 3.70GHz 3.70 GHz

- 64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable)

- Blackmagic 4K

- Windows 10 Enterprise

- NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000

- Aximmetry Broadcast DE 2022.1.021293

- 3x Sony FX6 4K

- Output 1080 50p

Check if you have the "Enabled With Stencil" option marked on unreal project settings.

This isn’t a typical or expected issue. I suspect the issue has to do with the Stencil Pass setting.

Also, why are you rendering in 50i? You will have no end of issues if you don’t do progressive. Interlaced should have died when the last CRT tv was thrown in a dumpster ;-) For all projects destined for internet we’ve also switched to 30p instead of 25p even though we’re in a PAL country. This will give much smoother frame rendering on YouTube and Vimeo while still allowing us to render in 4K in Aximmetry. Even when the final output is 1080p the quality will improve a lot.

Hi Felipe,

At 6:00 min mark, the issue is that the TAA (anti-aliasing) is not applied on pixels that are in front of the Billboard (talent). To fix it, please follow the documentation here at Setting up objects in front of the billboard: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-aximmetry-de-users/how-to-install-and-work-with-the-unreal-engine-based-de-edition/#setting-up-objects-in-front-of-the-billboard
Note that if you are using an older version of Aximmetry than 2022.1.0, then the method is different than in the documentation. If needed I can write that down here.

Also, the anti-aliasing wasn't very good at some places even before this issue, like at the 4:05-4:15 mark. If it is because you applied a method that removes the virtual screen (video in Unreal) from the anti-aliasing process, then the fix is the same as above in the documentation.

Warmest regards,
