Tracked Billboard issue

OK, this one is driving me crazy. I am sure the answer should be simple. When I create a mixed cam project and try to track billboard it does strange things. When the tracking is off everything seems OK. I turn on Optical tracking just for the sake of it and It also works. At least I still can see the billboard. But when I turn on Antilatency Tracker it flips the billboard and messes the scale. Trackers are calibrated, I can track position of meshes(with offset), no problem, but when it comes to billboards it just doesn't work. Sure I am missing something. What do you think? Here's the link to videohttps://www.facebook.com/1672236599/videos/329961295302273/

Hi Andrew,

Sadly, I can not see the video, it is broken or removed according to Facebook.

Note that the billboard tracking system does not move in Y-axis: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/setting-up-virtual-sets-with-tracked-cameras/#automatic-positioning-of-the-billboard

Did you use the Aximmetry Camera Calibrator to calibrate the trackers? Or for example, you changed values in Manage Devices?

Warmest regards,

Hey, thanks for the respond. The point is that the Lock to camera does not affect the position of the billboar when i use Antilatency tracker. It does not react to it. I calibrate the tracker in the Manage devices section, I set the three points.

Her's the link to the video.

Hi,

It seems the tracking position is not correct. I am guessing halfway in that video you turned on Auto PositionTracking. If you needed an offset in the flow editor or in the camera compound for a mesh to show up at the correct place, then you should incorporate that offset into the Manage Devices settings.
Also, are you using Antilatency to track the camera? Do they have different calibrations in the Antilatency Service software for the trackers?

And is that capsule a Player Start Actor? If so, you could:

  • A) Set the player model to an invisible one:
    • Go to Edit / Project Settings / Project / Maps & Modes / Default Modes
    • Create a new game mode by pressing the + button (Give it a name and press OK)
    • The new game mode should be selected as the Default GameMode
    • Open the Selected GameMode section
    • Change the Default Pawn Class to None
  • B) Move the PlayerStart outside of the scene. In this case, the gray sphere will spawn in an invisible area. (Its position is indifferent for Aximmetry.)

More on that here: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-aximmetry-de-users/how-to-install-and-work-with-the-unreal-engine-based-de-edition/#in-unreal

I am having the very same issue which is shown his video. Please tell us which settings is likely to cause this.

Hi Kobtak,

If you are using Auto Position (you have tracker device on the talent):

Then make sure you gave the right tracker for Auto Position. Like it is not the same tracking device that you use for camera tracking.
And that the talent with the tracker is in the camera view of the tracked camera.

If you just use Lock To Camera, then make sure that Locked Distance is greater than 0:

Best if you don't use FREE MODE camera much while you set the Billboard up.
And follow the documentation here:
https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-studio-operators/setting-up-virtual-sets-with-tracked-cameras/#compositing-modes

If you are using Antilatency, try to set it up using the ORIGIN control board instead changing values in the Manage Devices. Similar to how it is done with Vive: https://aximmetry.com/learn/tutorials/for-aximmetry-de-users/experimenting-with-htc-vive-camera-tracking-using-unreal-scene/#calibrating-the-tracker-position
And make sure that the camera tracking is correct before setting up the Billboard. If the tiles in the studio view move in the right direction while you rotate the camera, then you probably have a correct camera tracking setup:
